Rip Curl Padang-Padang PRO - 02

Due to a 2 weeks trip to G-land, the article about the contest at Padang got a bit late.

On the 08 of september, during one of the best swells of this season, the Rip Curl Padang Pro was finally on.

This swell, that had a lot of south influence, was delivering 8 feet waves at Padang while Uluwatu was 10 to 12 feet solid.

The contest started early in the morning and during all day the tube show was really consistent making the judge’s job real hard where waves above 8 were common and even a few 10 pointers were registered; at lunch time, because of the high tide, the contest was stoped for 2 hours for the lucky surfers who had their boards handy.

The winner was Made “Bol” Adi Putra, followed by Rizal Tandjung in second and Hendrik “Pepen” in third.

As always there was a good crowd on the beach and the contest was a success; now we can only hope that in the next editions the trials get open for western surfers.

Congratulations to the organization, to the champion and to all the people involved in the process.

Aloha, Rodrigo “Digone”
