At
least 23 people, including foreigners, were killed and
90 others injured in the terrorist attack on saturday
(01/10), almost 3 years after the first terrorist attack
with bombs on the island of Bali.
The first 2 explosions went off almost simultaneously
at Kafe Nyoman and nearby Kafe Menega on the seafood
restaurant's area at Jimbaram beach at 18:50, a very
busy time. The third bomb exploded 10 min. later at
Raja's noddle and steak house in downtown Kuta, nearby
the supermarket and shopping center Matahari at kuta
Square.
The distance between Jimbaram and Kuta is about 5 Km.
The blasts took place just 3 days before the major hindu
festival of "Galungan" that celebrates the
victory of good over evil.
The police bomb squad of Bali discovered 4 more bombs
which failed to explode and 3 more explosions of bombs
of smaller scale were also registered.
The difference now was that instead of using car bombs,
this time the terrorists used young suicidal men in
between 20 to 25 yrs old that carried the bombs in backpacks
that exploded on their backs.
From all the victims, more than 90% were indonesians
from which the majority were tourists from other islands
of muslim religion also.
We leave here registered our condolences and feelings
to the families and friends of the victims.
