SEASON 2007 - Better late than never!!!!

Start another season on the holy island of the Gods, Bali. Due to some personal problems thanks to the amazing Brazilian beurocatic system the season has started real late for me and i ended up missing the first swell of the season that from what i heard was really big and clean, something around 12 to 15 feet on the biggest sets at Ulu's. According to some information i've got Makua Rothman and some Hawaiian friends were going for it determined on a heavy plus Super Sucks...first paddling and after towing in...

When I arrived the waves were small but soon a medium swell of around 6 feet showed up making everyone stoked. A funny and a bit revolting fact for me was the news of the copy of my site's name so now in Brazil there is this little surf Tv program about Indonesia that uses the name CONNECTION... as if it wasn't enough a Brazilian site that started to do daily surf reports in english after seeing Bali Surf Connection's success in other countries now we also have a copy on the Tv. now all they gotta do is make a logo of the island of Bali and Indonesia in green surrounded by a white aura on a black background, go to the legal department in Brazil and
change his name to Rodrigo and ask his friends to call him Digone and nigger will be pretty close to perfection. hahaha...

Besides that it's all good around here.I've reencounter many friends from the old days, locals and foreigners and the island still beautiful as always... we have been receiving medium size swells and the crowd is pretty mellow still.

A strong contrast this year is the changing taking place at Uluwatu as Uluwatu Resort was recently sold and the new owners decided to completely change the way the mountain in front of the warungs look like... they are cutting all the trees down and burning all the vegetation in order to build rooms and a garden where before was Ulu's monkey's home. Noises of chainsaw are now a constant and as you can see I've put some pictures showing the visual changes of the area including one from the 70's that I found at Ketut Pitur's warung... Besides everything, at Uluwatu things are going on the same Balinese way as always. It's all about relaxing and enjoying the good vibes and positive energy of the place and the locals.

Many of the regulars are already here and there are always a lot of new people showing up...i've already found on the area: Cacho, Feijão, Kalani, Micaela, Batatinha, Felipe from Brasil, Alex, Russel, Jake, Matt, Tissot, Leleco, Didi, Fábio from Santinho, Maíra e Elísio, Jimbo, Gary, Gene, my friends from Porto Rico, Eddie Blackwell, Ricky, Felipe from Peru and Eva, Jorge "Guti", Ashley, Márcio Ramos e namorada and many others that are around and I don't remember now besides the locals like Lana, Tosca, Senna, Ketut, Pitur, Doggy, Pugsley, Kasim, Ganti, etc... it's all good in the hood.
