Da Bali Surf Connection/Gangsta Trip
|
|
We
were at Uluwatu watching another sunset while deciding which
way to go...Me, Australians Eddie "Predator", Glen
"Gangsta" Johnson and his guest Jason Speed, Californian
Michael "Soul Man", Hawaiian David Cantrell and
the local Made Lana that wasn't sure about joining that expedition
that was getting organized so quick even with all the psychological
pressure from the crew...the internet was showing a swell
of medium intensity for the next few days and we weren't sure
between the "Point" or the "Jungle"...the
conversation kept going for many Bintangs and ended up on
Margaritas at Cacho's Sunset Grill...in that way some didn't
leave that night like David Cantrell that ended up going home
after the Bintangs at Ulu's and Eddie and Lana that went to
join Tosca and Ketut Ronald on a memorable session of Margaritas
and Tequilas that would leave any Mexican screaming "Arriba"
for the rest of the night...
So we left Me, Glen, Michael and Jason at around midnight
going towards the jungle at Plengkung, better known as G-Land...all
the camps were closing and these were the very last days and
the occupancy on Bobbys and Jungle Camp (only camps still
open) together was of 9 people...besides those that was a
boat anchored at the channel with 3 or 4 surfers and that
was it...
After spending the night in a hotel in Java we got on the
road early morning in the middle of the national park of Alas
Purwo and even with part of the road blocked due to some damage
caused by the heavy rains of this time of the year we still
managed to get to Bobby's Camp in time for a session before
lunch...the swell that was only starting to build up had already
3 feet solid and we surfed practically alone all session...
The following day Eddie "the animal" and Ford arrived
on the jungle making the team stronger... We were on the jungle
for only 3 days and the swell was always on the 4 to 5 feet
range. Even with the wind never blowing offshore Moneytrees
had always decent conditions with long and bowling waves that
were surfed by all on almost every single session.
We still had a good surprise with the arrival of the camp's
owner mr. Bobby Radiasa and the manager Puma that came to
close the camp for the season 2007... And that's how we spent
the last 3 days of Bobbys Camp on the season 2007.
On the way back we stopped to eat some goat sate that Eddie
pulled up from his sleeve and we arrived in Bali at night
after a trip with a lot of adrenalin with Eddie and Glen on
the wheel of both cars of the trip that almost ended up badly.
The angel is strong.
Now we are once again at Bali surfing Uluwatu with 4 to 5
feet on the high tide with changing winds that blow sideshore
and onshore sometimes giving up when it gets oil glassy while
we plan our next trip. The internet is showing another two
pulses on the 4 to 6 feet range one on the 18th and another
on the 21st...
Me, Eddie, Glen, Ford and Michael are already getting one
more organized and maybe this time our crazy buddy Christian
Fletcher will come along...
And the last dance goes on......this is Indonesia!!!
