Bali - Indonesia, the season 2008 is officially open!!
|
|
And the season 2008 of wave hunting in Bali
and Indonesia has been officially open. On the 2nd last week
we had the first swell of the season here on the islands.
The day started with sets of 6 feet solid at the Bommie of
Uluwatu that picked up to 8 feet plus by mid day and stayed
the same dropping slowly through the day until sunset time
with the bigger and better wave rides taking place at the
Bommie and some sets at the Outside Corner during low tide
around 2 o’clock in the afternoon even with the strong
wind at this time that blew onshore/sideshore for a couple
of hours. At Padang-padang sets a lot smaller and with much
longer time between sets were waited by a strong crowd for
that kind of condition. It looked like Impossibles and some
other spots on the area were also delivering and from what
I heard from my friend Pietro good barrels were breaking at
some other breaks in the neighbourhood. But the star of the
show was the Bommie of Uluwatu with 8 feet plus sets that
were surfed by a small group; insane take offs, unexpected
sets on the head and many broken boards were just a little
taste of what is yet to come on this season.
Now the swell has dropped off, today at Uluwatu we have 3
feet waves at the Peak but the forecast shows another swell
that will start to show up on the island tomorrow afternoon
and should reach its peak on the 6th with the same intensity
of this last swell that has just passed the island and it
looks like we might have another swell even bigger just behind
for the 10th.
The season 2008 of wave hunting in Indonesia
is definitely open, Sampai Jumpah!!
