For
many days we had great waves at Temples and The Peak on
the higher tides in the morning to then have all the afternoon
going off at the Race as the tide didn't have much variation
due to the moon phase in those days...it was already becoming
common to see sets of 5 waves all peeling perfectly on the
reef producing 2 to 3 perfect barrels each. All this together
with the traditional reddish orange sunset on the Indian
Ocean horizon and sometimes with a school of dolphins that
showed up to play on the coast.Warm crystal water, pumping
waves and a scenery like this as a background.Because this
and other things Bali is Bali!!
On
the biggest day, 5 to 6 feet waves were breaking at the
Outside Corner and at the Bommie on sets that were taking
long time in between and showed up every half hour or...While
at Padang-padang little waves of 3 feet provided some little
barrels for the more desperate...
On
this swell, besides the locals a lot of surfers marked their
spots on the line up such as Alex, Maya Gabeira, Kalani
Jabour, Paulo Guimarães, Ale, David Cantrell, Don
Johnson, Joe and many other surfers from all different nationalities.
At
this moment the island and the rest of Indonesia celebrate
the day of "Merdeka" (Independence) (17/8) and
on Bali we have a lot of ceremonies and offerings taking
place simultaneously as today we are on the full moon that
on the Hindu lunar calendar is the most important day for
the religious festivities; Apart of that, the next 20th
we will have the most important Hindu holiday of the year,
the "Hari Raya Galungan". We hope that this may
be a holiday blessed with pumping waves...may the internet
forecast keep on getting wrong...
Greetings
from Bali, the island of the Gods!!!
SELAMAT HARI RAYA GALUNGAN DAN KUNINGAN!!!
Special
thanks:
