Boat trip to the islands
Nusa Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa |
 |
Even having a lot surf spots that offer excellent conditions,
Bali has now become the starting point for surftrips to more remote
parts of Indonesia for many of the surfers that arrive here everyday.
From the many trips that can be organized, the main and most common
are:
Nusa
Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa Islands.
• The trip
The trip to these islands take 7 days and 6 nights
and usually is made aboard an indonesian model of boat, the “Jukung
Outrigger”, specially designed for surftrips in these waters.
This model is faster and more stable than others being able to
drop anchor at shallower places making possible the access to
bays of more tranquil waters securing more relaxing sleeping nights.
Your adventure start early in the morning of the first
day when you will be transferred in an airconditioned minibus
from your hotel to Sanur beach (about 25 min.) where you will
go onboard of your floating house for the next 7 days to go to
Nusa Lembongam arriving there on time for lunch.
From then on the schedule is a bit flexible and depending
on the waves condition and the time left on the trip is possible
to opt for staying a bit longer at some spot. Keep in mind that
the boats never travel at night and the arrival in Bali is at
lunch time of the last day. Besides, during high season (may./oct.)
the boat make the crossing from Lombok to Sumbawa by Sengigi side,
so between Desert Point and Scar Reef one day is lost as there
isn´t any good surf spots in this area and a stop over is
essential because of the luminosity.
On the rain season (dec./mar.) the boat can make the
crossing by south side of Lombok and surf at many other spots
but the winds are in the opposite direction of the good ones for
Desert Point and scar Reef.
