LEMBONGAN - LOMBOK E SUMBAWA |
SURF
SPOTS
-Lakey Peak:
Located in the middle of the other spots, after a lagoon
that forms on the low tide, is one of the few spots in Indonesia
where you can surf good waves on reef bottom to the right and to
the left.
The left is longer and produces 2 good deep barrel sections
and wall for maneuvers ending on the channel while the right is
shorter but also offers a tube and wall for maneuvers. Lakey´s
can handle swell up to 8 feet but after 6 feet start to get heavy.
Better at dead low tide early morning.
-Lakey Pipe:
Just left of Lakey Peak, separated by a few hundred
meters channel, this left can deliver nice barrels with backdoor
sections, getting better at the medium tide coming high from 4 to
6 feet.
Doesn´t suffer much influence from mid’day
onshore winds…
- Nungas:
Left located at the right side of Lakey Peak, Nungas
is the best bet for when the swell is over 8 feet offering very
long walls with various sections from where the wave can be dropped.
Ideal at medium to high tide as at low tide the wave sections a
lot and get very shallow.
- Periscopes:
Long and hollow right located at about 3 Km to the right
of Lakey Peak, Periscopes is a moody wave that depends on non or
light winds, medium or high tide and a good south swell to show
what it is capable of.
IMPORTANT
- Before leaving Bali don´t forget to make a complete check
of you car: check the oil, water, battery, suspension, all lights,
air conditioning, stereo, all wheels and steppe, equipment to change
the wheels, etc. These details make the difference when you are
in the middle of nowhere
and the nearest mechanic is about 100 Km away…
- On the way from Labuhan Tano (Sumbawa´s port) to Lakey Peak
there are very few petrol stations, whenever you find little stalls
selling bottles of petrol, fill up your tank to don´t get
fucked.
- At Lombok and Sumbawa there is Malaria focus, take the necessary
precautions such as always use mosquito repellents at sunrise and
sunset and also use long sleeve shirts and pants at these times.
When you go to sleep, better inside a mosquito net.
