RELIGION, CULTURE AND TRADITIONS
-The majority of the Balinese eat with their right hand and only
use the left hand for their personal hygiene, never touching money
or food with the left hand so never try to shake the left hand
of a balinese or give your left hand to be shaken.
- The Balinese consider the head the most sacred part of the body
and the feet the lowest.touching the head of a Balinese or putting
your feet on the table or pointing at someone can be understood
as disrespect.
- To enter any hindu temple in Bali is obligatory to wear a sarong
around the waist covering the legs and any woman during menstrual
cycle is forbidden to enter the temple.
- Apart of the majority of tourist women making topless on the
beach, it´s recommended for women to wear more discreet
clothes in the shops,
supermarkets, etc. specially in other islands where the majority
of the population is muslin to avoid embarrassment.

• SURF
- Always keep a tide chart handy as they are the surfer´s
bible here; The tides have a strong and direct influence on the
waves here specially on the full moon and new moon when the variation
is way bigger. (see link).
- Never arrive in big groups making noise. Be discreet.
- Remember that this is not an overcrowded beach break, observe
the waiting order in the line up, wait for your turn and NEVER
PADLLE AROUND (SNEAK)!!! (not to mention drop in.).
- Respect everybody and never paddle into a wave where there is
a local
already paddling for it even if you are in better position.
- Analyze the changes of the ocean and of the waves as the tide
changes and pay attention to where the locals go out and come
in from the water.
- If you are in doubt, always use a bigger board.
- Because of the shallow reefs It´s highly recommended the
use of booties and helmet.
- Try to always keep a positive attitude in and out of the water.
- If a set wave comes and you are in good position, don´t
hesitate, paddle hard, turn at the bottom and pull in and NEVER
give up, sometimes the waves look like closing but if you believe
you have big chances of coming out.
- At low tide, never come out of a tube that looks like closing
out to the front of the wave, the safest place is inside the barrel
where there is more water.the thing is to die inside.
- When you meet Rodrigo "Digone" in the water leave
the waves to him and when you want to organize any surf trips
in Indonesia close the deal with the Bali Surf Connection to help
organizing this site to help you to don´t get fucked around.
HAPPY SURFING!!!!!
